Protecting the Future

Wills, Succession Planning and Peace of Mind for Vulnerable People and the Organisations That Support Them

Join us for an informative and sensitive session, offering practical insights into the importance of succession planning for those you support.

Who is it for?

CEO, Senior Leaders, Trustees, Interim Executive

Date: 08/05/2026

Time: 12:30 - 2:00pm

Venue: Mills Selig, Belfast

CO3 is delighted to partner with local law firm, Mills Selig, to deliver a session tailored for charity leaders. The focus is on how succession planning can benefit the communities you serve and how you can bring this valuable knowledge to your service users.

At Mills Selig, we understand the importance of helping individuals and families prepare for the future. This event is designed to show charity leaders how our Wills and Succession Planning presentation can equip your organisation with practical knowledge to share with your service users.

Our aim is simple – to provide clear, accessible advice that offers peace of mind and empowers those you support to plan for the future with confidence.

By the end of the session, you will:
  • Feel more confident discussing future planning with beneficiaries and families
  • Be equipped to signpost and support appropriate legal and practical pathways
  • Have clear next steps to strengthen your organisation’s approach to succession planning
Who will benefit most?

This session is for senior leaders across the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector who are:

  • Supporting individuals with learning disabilities or complex needs
  • Working closely with families, parents, or long-term carers
  • Responsible for shaping services that safeguard vulnerable people
  • Seeking to strengthen their organisation’s approach to long-term planning and support

It will be particularly valuable for:

  • Chief Executives and Directors shaping service delivery
  • Senior Managers responsible for programmes supporting vulnerable groups
  • Trustees seeking to strengthen governance and long-term safeguarding
  • Leaders looking to respond proactively to the evolving needs of their beneficiaries
This session is great for you if...
  • You are aware that families you support are worried about “what comes next”
  • You want to move from reactive support to proactive planning
  • You are looking for practical, legally-informed guidance you can apply immediately
  • You believe your organisation has a role to play in safeguarding futures — not just meeting present needs

What Members Say About CO3

We’re delighted to get behind the financial resilience programme who, which will support a range of charity leaders from the small right through to the large, will really help give them the skills to be strong and be there for their communities for as long as they’re needed.

As a chief executive it is a very lonely job at times, particularly in small charities and Northern Ireland has got many small charities. So when you feel that loneliness or isolation, the one thing that CO3 brought was the ability to go and chat to somebody, whether it be a mentor or whether it be just another chief exec to bounce off.

Kate Fleck
Member of the Board, OCN NI

CO3 offer a wide range of courses for middle, middle managers, senior managers and chief executives within the third sector. Some of the programmes include the Leading Edge programme, there’s other leadership programmes available and then they also offer some micro learning sessions around how to present things like finances to your board of directors, reviewing your governance structure within the organisation and they would bring in some expert facilitators to deliver those sessions as well.
